Rising Phoenix
I was commissioned to create a sculpture for the Edgewood Treatment Centre in Nanaimo, BC, Canada.
The appropriate subject matter of a phoenix became two, two rising phoenixes guarding the entrance to a maze used at the centre for meditation and contemplative practices. Using the principals of simplicity and minimalism, the two phoenixes have, I think, been successfully created.
